Holdover tenancy

A tenancy in which a lessee maintains possession of a leased property after the lessee's lease has expired and the landlord, by continuing to accept rent from the tenant, agrees to the tenant's continued occupancy as defined by state law. This type of tenancy is known as a "landlord-tenant relationship."
